Dear Friends,
A year ago we opened our doors with the goal of giving the community a place for upscale fashion "recycling", access to great artisan works and a center for information, events and socializing. We've been eco-friendly in everything from the paints we chose for our walls to our green businesses practices. We'd like to thank you all for your support over the past year as we brought this concept to life in a difficult economy. I'd also like to thank my family and friends who have tirelessly helped and supported me. Mom and Dad, Max and Shirley, who helped us prep to get the doors open, and Nancy, Nan and Marisa, the other ladies behind the counter lending a hand, a smile, a brilliant idea, and at times the chance for me to take a day off. I'd be lost without them.
We hope to keep it fresh and fun for you as the years go on. On that note, I need to share with you a sign that was brought in for consignment. It reads: "Fresh (fresh) adj. cheeky, saucy, impertinent, shamelessly bold; a trait commonly found in middle-aged women." Well, that's my idea of "fresh"!
And now I'm going to use some virtual ink to toot our own horn. In the past year, we've had over 1200 consignors. Over 75% of them have been back to consign with us multiple times. We've had an even higher number of shoppers--and they have an even higher rate of return to shop some more. Since only happy customers come back, we're thinking that we've made quite a few people happy! Our recognition by NJ MONTHLY Magazine in their 2011 Best of New Jersey issue, was quite an honor and a testament that we must be doing something right. We've also been able to bring you lots of fun and free events that have ranged from Zumba and Yoga nights to hosting the National Association of Professional Organizers and Greystone Preservation. Our monthly game nights and Meet-the-Artists events have put us on the map as a fun community center too. We strive to keep the evening offerings fresh as we move into year two. Please let us know if you have any special requests as we plan our events moving forward!
Over the course of the year, we've also done our best to raise awareness and goods/funding for several local charities, including Jersey Battered Women's Services, Morris Habitat for Humanity, the Seeing Eye, Saint Clare's breast cancer patients, the Denville food Pantry, Greystone Preservation and Dress for Success. We could not have done any of this without our loyal customers, and we are grateful for all that you have contributed. Our Food Pantry bin is ongoing--you fill it with food, and and we'll deliver it! The same goes for our JBWS collection box for toiletries.
We have also received a very positive response to the "goings-on-around-town" section of our newsletter and the partnership efforts we have made to bring you access to other businesses around town for free events. More will be coming!
So, with Spring now underway, this is a time for renewal and re-invigoration your spirit. Maybe even your wardrobe and home. We're happy to help on all counts. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
